Teams language detect Uses Teams multilingual speaker identification (MLSI)

Requires a Copilot Premium license. Without it, the meeting’s starting language (English by default) is used for all speakers.

How to enable multilingual detection ›

Open the meeting invite in your calendar
Click Meeting options
Under Recording & Transcription, turn on Enable multilingual speech detection
Click Save

How to set the starting language ›

The bot starts captions in English by default. To change it:

In the meeting, click More (⋯) → Language and speech → Show live captions
Click Caption settings → Language settings
Under Spoken language in this meeting, select your language

When multilingual detection is active, it will still detect and override the language per speaker automatically.
