Meeting options → Accessibility → CART captions — leave blank to disable CART output

Who can stop translation Anyone in the meeting Default. Any participant using the app can stop it. Only the organizer and me Recommended for large meetings. Everyone else sees Stop locked.

Translation still ends on its own when the meeting ends or everyone leaves.

Bot Language (language being spoken in the meeting)

Teams language detect Uses Teams multilingual speaker identification (MLSI) when enabled for the meeting

Requires the Teams license and meeting setting for MLSI. Without it, Teams uses the meeting’s configured starting language for all speakers.

How to enable multilingual detection ›

Open the meeting invite in your calendar
Click Meeting options
Under Recording & Transcription, turn on Enable multilingual speech detection
Click Save

How to set the starting language ›

Teams starts captions in the meeting’s configured spoken language. To change it:

In the meeting, click More (⋯) → Language and speech → Show live captions
Click Caption settings → Language settings
Under Spoken language in this meeting, select your language

When multilingual detection is active, it will still detect and override the language per speaker automatically.
